Academician Professor Peter Sachsenmeieris a strategist, expert in complex technology management, industrial innovator and visionary.He is the President of the International Innovation Center @Hankou University in Wuhan, China. He is also Deputy President of the university in charge of research, science and technology.

Prof Peter Sachsenmeier actively promotes the integration of education, research and industry.  He is a German national, a polyglot and at home in Oxford, England. Prof Peter Sachsenmeier started to teach at Oxford University right from the beginning of his career. In his 20s he was already the editor of the world classsInternational Review of Education and organizer of the First All-European Research Conference (East and West), in 1975.

Throughout his career, he has combined outstanding appointments in academe with important posts in international companies and has worked on all continents except Australia. He is actively involved in knowledge transfer from research to industry. He continues to teach having held senior academic positions in Germany, UK, Africa and Asia. He worked for the UN and several of its agencies, including the World Bank, UNESCO, WHO and UNEP. He is the president of the Swiss accreditation organization for business analysts, IBEA.

He is, among others, author of the book, Challenges between Competition and Collaboration: The Future of the European Manufacturing Industry. He continues as President of a professional engineering association, Engineering Workflow (Europe) which has evolved from being focused on the automotive industry to considering the complexities of the industrial internet and Industry 4.0. For several decades, he was on the management board of the German Computer Society, GI, and chaired the society`s information management network.

 In the 1980s and 1990s, he was Oxford University`s Ambassador to European Industry and attracted several world class companies. He held CEO, Executive Board and Advisory Board for positions for major consulting, automotive, teelecommunications and high tech companies internationally. He is currently on the exutive boards of international new materials, nanomaterials and advanced computing initiatives worldwide. He combines deep technology knowledge with a keen sense of new business and management models based on the digital transformation of all industries. He was project leader for several very large transformation projects and holds a part-time professorship for project management at a German technological university.

Prof. Sachsenmeier was elected a member of the prestigious national German Academy for Science and Engineering (acatech) in 2006. Acatech writes the roadmap for German industrial policy. His academy “invented” the term Industry 4.0. As an academician, he collaborates with several leading national academies of science, for example in the UK, Latvia, India and China. He has a unique international network of contacts, access to investment projects and advanced technology research.

 His recent work deals with smart city technologies in an increasingly urban world, Industry 4.0, cyber-physical systems, the entire ecosystem of modern industrialization including 5G, Artificial Big Date, Nano Tech, 3D Printing, robotics, autonomous / smart vehicles, quantum computing, clean energy, as well as the biotech industries of the future. He has more than 60 relevant international research & development projects at his International Innovation Center (IIC) in Wuhan, many of them in the funding stages.

IIC has a planned target of 800 scientific staff. As part of the current stage of expansion, IIC will establish satellite offices in other cities in China. As an innovation, the Project Management Office of IIC is staffed by more than 100 students who help to coordinate the international projects and work in an associated incubator. IIC also boasts a technology transfer company and is linked to several industrial parks.

To date, more than 30 international distinguished research professors (among them many academicians) have been appointed to work with IIC, not counting numerous other academic collaborators and elite overseas institutions. IIC runs regular Belt and Road research conferences which bring together local and overseas academics, as well as interested companies and municipal governments.

Prof Peter Sachsenmeier acts as industrial and talent ambassador for Wuhan and other cities. Jiangxia district of Wuhan city has agreed to provide him with a large shared laboratory which, once opened in early 2020 will – under his leadership - accommodate local research groups from several universities in Hubei province as well as international researchers and overseas universities and national academies.

Massive efforts are planned to establish multiple academicians` posts in GreenTech as well as nanomaterials.
